Arctic blast '09 and other wonderful events

Well, for at least the 4th year in a row, we had snow at Christmas-time. This year wasn't a surprise on Christmas day like 2 years ago, and it didn't shut down the city for a week like last year, but it was welcome nonetheless. Here are a few photos I got before it melted.

If I could be so bold as to point out that the weather people had no idea what to do with this snow (as did most of the drivers here). So, even though the forecast for the next 119 days is 44 degrees with rain, I'm hoping for another arctic blast.

Some other neat things that have been happening around here (surrounding Christmas) are that we got to go to the Nutcracker. This was Ashley's second time of going, and the second time of taking her friend, Caity. And they both loved it for the second time. Two short years ago this was Ashley's dream to get all dressed up in her fanciest clothes, but this year was like pulling teeth (and she doesn't have many left to pull) to get her out of jeans and a t-shirt. My how times have changed. Here is a picture of the pretty girls before they told me pictures weren't allowed! (this outfit was a compromise)

We took the kids to go see Santa as well. This was a mixed experience. It's a long story about how Santa only really likes you if you fork out 20 bucks to have your picture taken with him. Reminds me about the time we saw the Easter Bunny at Elmers. Anyway, the kids seemed satisfied, maybe the trip afterwards to See's Candy had something to do with that. This is the best picture we got. (for free)

We also did some Christmas baking which was fun. Somehow we made (and ate) much more than we gave away, but I guess that's part of the adventure. No eating going on here.

Caught red-handed:

We had our 9th Annual Care Group Christmas party (someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Here is a picture of our growing tribe of kids. We are all looking forward to having Eli, Lucy and baby May in the picture next year!

More to come on Christmas day festivities.

Well, of course you mean ME when you say "someone will correct me." It is actually our 10th Christmas together as a Care Group although I don't actually know how many Christmas parties we have had. Probably 10. But maybe you didn't join the CG until after 2000? Somehow I doubt that too. Keep up.

:)

yes, we joined in 2000. It took awhile for you all to accept our application. :)

News Flash: It is December - snowing and your baby NEEDS SHOES!!! Santa should have picked up on that.

Meanwhile - I LOVE your stories and pics. Still waiting to see Bill in one of them (he is cute, you know).

Take care and lots of love, sue

someone actually stopped us once when I was carrying Charlie and said "did you know you lost a shoe?" Then they saw his other foot and noticed there wasn't a shoe on that one either. The kid can't walk. Why would he need shoes?!? (besides the cold and snow, that is)

I was going to tease you about Charlie's shoe-less and sock-less feet, but I'm glad someone beat me to it! :)
