Winter Fun

Since we aren't getting much snow in Portland, we decided to go to Bend for our 3 day weekend to enjoy some winter.  (notice these posts aren't exactly in order, but neither is our life)  :)  We went to Bend President's weekend and expected snow and were not disappointed!  The first day we got a huge snowstorm and made it outside in the morning to build a snow cave.

Andy and Abby digging the cave:

Ta-da!  That was fast!  (not really)

Charlie actually loved it outside (you can't really tell it here).  This is Charlie having fun:

Then in the afternoon we took the girls ice skating.  For those of you that saw the video from last time, this wasn't nearly as hilarious.  Ashley did great from the beginning, Abby didn't fall quite as much but also wasn't her normal dare devil self.  They had fun though.

On Sunday afternoon we decided they hadn't had enough so we took them skiing.  Bachelor has a free lift for beginners, so it was "easy" (don't ask Andy to confirm that) to just take them up there for a few runs.  This was Abby's first time and she was SO excited.  Here she is all ready in her gear:

And Ashley with her skis.  They weren't this short when I was a kid!!

Andy took Ashley and Andy's dad took Abby.  Both with very different styles of teaching but both effective.  I was just in my boots so I could walk up the hill and take pictures.  It was funny to watch them both go by in different stages of the frustration learning process.

Maybe these are more accurate pictures of them.

Somewhere along the way, the pair ups got switched.  I am assuming this was intentional.  Anyway, here are some videos I got along the way.

On the way home we were singing songs and Abby wanted to sing the "dot com song".  I was thinking this was a commercial or something she saw.  I asked her where she heard it and she said "Grandma Lindy taught it to me."  Grandma Lindy would be the first to admit that she didn't teach Abby a dot com song.  I asked her how it went and she sang, "Oh where, oh where has my little dot com."  Grandma Lindy did indeed teach her that, but possibly she misunderstood the words?  :)  Instead, we got to enjoy this song from Ashley, which has different words each time she sings it.

Poor Charlie, every time we got dressed to go somewhere, he would get dressed too.  He would follow people around begging for help with his boots, ski pants, jacket, whatever.  No one had the heart to tell him 'no', so each time he was dressed and ready to go, only to get denied.

Maybe next time, buddy!
