Well, the day has come. I can finally say that Charlie is walking. And it really was a matter of one day to the next. I remember with Ashley we went through a period of weeks where I wasn't sure whether to call it "walking" or not. More like stumbling and falling. I think Charlie has had so long to process this in his mind, that once he decided to start taking steps, he was off. He has been standing independently for a long time, jumping on the tramp for a good 2 months, and trying to take steps for about 3 weeks. The last stage, though, only happened when he was either motivated by food or he just plain felt like it. Asking him to walk was most often met with a high pitched squeal and a fast crawl in the opposite direction. Ashley and Abby have done a lot to "help" him walk. This first video is an example of their latest efforts, possibly an indication of why he was so resistant to the change.
Before I could even get that post up though, he was off and running on his own. I think he finally decided that he might actually be able to escape the girls if he started walking. We'll see how that fares him. In the meantime, the moment we've all been waiting for, BABY CHARLIE WALKING!!
So, I never would have imagined, but we're marking 21 months down in Charlie's baby book. Wait a minute, does this mean that he's not a baby anymore?!?!? Nonsense. :)

I love the "puppy" video. Poor Charlie. He has no idea what it will be like living w 2 sisters who REALLY want to help him! The kids are all adorable - and mom too, of course.
best high five ever!! and I love abby with her dance and the "hey, your puppy almost fell down"
ps what is mommy doing while the girls are leading the baby around on a leash?
Yea, Abby cracks me up. I taught her that dance. :)
I was clearly VIDEOING while they were helping Charlie walk. I need blog material, you know!
